Developed by Callaway Cars in collaboration with Germany's IVM Automotive, the C12 was originally built to compete in the prestigious Le Mans GT2 racing class. While it utilized the backbone and structural hardpoints of the fifth-generation (C5) Chevrolet Corvette, the vehicle was fundamentally re-engineered to meet world-class endurance racing standards. It was designed not merely as a modified tuning package, but as a distinct, low-volume production automobile capable of matching the road presence and top-tier performance of contemporary European rivals.
Beneath its striking exterior, the C12 featured a completely bespoke body made from lightweight carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass composites. This distinct skin stretched significantly wider than a factory Corvette, allowing for a widened track that drastically improved high-speed stability and mechanical grip. Powering the machine was the proprietary Callaway SuperNatural V8 engine. By increasing the displacement of the aluminum LS1 block to a massive 6.2 liters, Callaway engineers extracted a robust 440 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. This immense power was managed through a six-speed manual transmission, sending the supercar from zero to sixty miles per hour in just 4.7 seconds on its way to an impressive top speed of 190 miles per hour.

Production was strictly limited, with only 19 road-going customer cars ever built before the program concluded in 2001.
